Fashion: My little grey dress

Hello everyone!
Today's post is an appreciation post for my little grey Topshop dress. I think pretty much every single one of my friends owns this dress in a variety of colours (you can get them from here). I love the way that these dresses are so simple, yet so flattering. I wear mine all the time some times with converse for a boyish look as I have done here, or sometimes with boots and a leather jacket for an edgier look.

I definitely think that this is a perfect versatile dress for the autumn and winter months and that I will definitely look into getting more colours. Thank you so much for reading!

Fashion and Beauty: My Autumn Essentials

I seriously love this time of year, autumn is such a gorgeous time , plus there are so many things to look forward to (Halloween, Fireworks night, my birthday, Christmas), not to mention the fashion and beauty on offer is gorgeous. I love it when my wardrobe gets a bit more cosy and I can start whacking out the berry toned make up. Here are some of my essentials for the colder months ahead.

Soap and Glory 'Smoothie star body milk'
Unfortunately with cold weather comes dry, battered and worn skin and a bit of rejuvenation is in order. I personally love to take a long, hot shower or bath and exfoliate and afterwards moisturising is just the perfect way to top it off. My all time favourite body lotion has always been this one as I love the smell of oats and vanilla, particularly in winter as it's so sweet and warm.

Now, it wouldn't be autumn with out some sort of berry lipstick - and I happen to have two here for you. The first one is a Mac satin lipstick called 'Amorous' and I find this lipstick so wearable as it's not too 'bold' but it definitely is very autumnal. This one is more of a brown shade compared to the Collection Lipstick from their 'Gothic Glam Collection' in Seduction. This one is definitely more glossy and heading towards the red/ pink shade so would probably be one that I might wear on an occasion.

As much as berry lipsticks are an essential, I think that you definitely need berry nails to go with it. This Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail varnish in Pomegranate is one of my faves. It's long lasting and very shiney - just what you need!

When it comes to this time of year I can't live without my faux leather Jacket from Boohoo. I love how it makes any outfit instantly look a bit 'cooler' or 'edgier', and it's definitely perfect for that in between stage that we're in now where we don't need a full on winter coat, but it's definitely not warm enough for short sleeves anymore.

Now, the real question is, who doesn't own a plaid shirt? I've had this one from H&M for years and I definitely won't be throwing it out any time soon. It's perfect for those days where you want to go for more of a tom- boy look if you match it with ripped jeans and trainers, or even a girly look if you pair it with a denim skirt and boots.

These two recent purchases of skirts have been life savers. The denim one from Boohoo and the black suede style one from Primark go with so many of my clothes. I think that the A line shape is really going to be massive this winter from both casual to party, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for more skirts like these!
When the time came for me to pick out some new work shoes for my retail job at Clarks, I knew that I definitely wanted these boots. They are the perfect mix of both Chelsea and chunky and although I have only had them a little while, I am already getting so much use out of these - they will definitely be appearing a lot more in my autumn winter wardrobe!

What are your autumn essentials? Is there anything you simply can't live without at this time of year?

Life at Bournemouth University

Hello everyone! Long time, no see...
I have been absolutely crazy busy since I started university this September, and finally, I'm going to be giving you an insight into my new life in Bournemouth.
I'm so glad that I chose the university and the course that I did because they are absolutely perfect for me. Bournemouth is a lovely coastal town in the south of England and is about two hours from london and 3 hours from Essex, so I feel that it is the perfect distance from home.
The night life here is brilliant, with some sort of event or student night happening every night, meaning that a party is never too far around the corner. The course that I am studying is Communication and Media, which is perfect for me as I am studying writing skills, journalism, film, advertising, among a whole range of other things, all of which I am very interested in. I am also planning on joining the Fashion Network society and will be looking into writing for the university media group, as I feel there are some really good opportunities there.
My flat is lovely and modern ( which is quite unusual for a halls of residence so I am very lucky!) and I am also very lucky to have fun, friendly and tidy housemates.
I also love that in Bournemouth, the beach is five minutes down the road as i have always found beaches so relaxing and beautiful.

Beauty: Current favourite foundation

Recently, I have been absolutely loving the Benefit Oxygen Wow foundation as a staple for my makeup routine.

Since going on holiday, being in the sun and soaking up that vitamin D, I'm happy to say the quality of my skin has improved dramatically (I'm going to miss you summer), and I've found that this foundation has been perfect for my skin at this time.

With very light coverage, some may argue it has quite a similar consistency to a tinted moisturiser, but I find that it still gives me that amazing glowey and evened out tone that I desire in my foundation.

I find that this foundation goes really well with natural, fresh and simple makeup looks such as with a pale pink shimmery eye shadow, some mascara and a nude lip gloss.

What have your go to foundations been over the summer? Also anyone dreading dragging out the higher coverage stuff for winter?:(

Fashion: My first day at uni

This is so scary, but in just over a week, I'm off to Bournemouth University! Right now, I've got so many mixed emotions from excited to nervous to sad to be leaving my friends and family - however I have no doubt that I am going to have the best time whilst I'm there. I don't know about you, but on a potentially stressful day such as my first day, I feel that when I'm wearing a comfortable outfit that looks good and laid back, I feel so much more confident. So here is what I've planned to wear on my first day:

Fashion: My first day at uni

Black and white stripe shirt
£9.01 - choies.com

This is such a classic staple in any girls wardrobe: the black and white is simple and the slouchy design means that I can feel comfortable without worrying about it being tight or that a bloated stomach is getting in the way.

Topshop petite skinny jeans
£42 - topshop.com

My most worn bottoms and the ones I feel are the most flattering for my figure are my black joni jeans from Topshop, so it only seemed right that I should wear them on my moving in day - I find the stretchy material of them so comfortable as well.

River Island genuine leather shoes
£58 - riverisland.com

Brown moccasin style loafers are my all time favorite type of shoe, I feel they so effortlessly make an outfit seem so smart and sophisticated whilst still looking relaxed

Charlotte Russe crochet pouch
£19 - charlotterusse.com

I love this back pack! I think its absolutely adorable, whilst still being practical, as you can just pop it on your back whilst you explore your new city. White is definitely my new favorite colour for a bag.

So are any of you going to uni or starting college this autumn? What are your go to outfits that make you feel comfortable for such an exciting but scary time? Or if you're already at university, what are your tips?

As always, thanks for reading,
Love, Yasmin xxx
