4 DAYS IN DUBLIN

Hello Everyone,

I'm back today with another travel post from a recent city break I have gone on. This time, it's Dublin. For a couple of years now, I have been desperate to go to Dublin and so I decided for my 22nd birthday which was in November, I would round up my family and fly over to celebrate my birthday Irish style.

Keep reading to hear the best bits of my trip to Dublin!

Activities

This was a really relaxed trip so our main activities were wandering around and just exploring the city and the most famous area's including St. Stephen's Green, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar and Grafton street. We went to Dublin a month before Christmas, so it was decorated absolutely beautifully. Because a lot of the houses were Georgian, the atmosphere with the Christmas decorations was just absolutely lovely.

We also visited some of the free museums including the natural history museum and art gallery, which was great because I love seeing the culture of a city.

Eating and Drinking

  • Queen of Tarts: On our first day in Dublin, we needed a nice lunch fast. Queen of Tarts was a small tea room that was just off of Temple Bar. It had delicious cakes, sandwiches and soups, as well as a Baileys hot chocolate (my favourite). It had an adorable 'Alice in Wonderland' style theme and was so cosy so was a lovely atmosphere for a spot of lunch.

  • Boxty House: As this was a birthday trip, we decided to go on a nice meal out. My parents, who had already been to Dublin absolutely raved about this particular restaurant. Again this is right on the Temple Bar, so the prices were quite dear, however, it was one hundred per cent worth it. They specialised in potato dumpling and pancakes. My family all had different variations of stews, and I went for vegetarian chilli wrapped in a potato pancake. We also got some of their famous dumplings to share as a family. They were completely gorgeous, as they had a yummy chilli and garlic dressing.

  • KC Peaches: After wandering around museums all morning, we stopped off for a cup of tea and a cake at a little eatery called KC Peaches. They did absolutely stunning cakes and although we didn't have a meal there, their full menu looked absolutely delicious too!

  • We went to a fair few pubs, but a couple of my favourites were Bankers Bar, and The Dame Tavern. We avoided the pubs on Temple Bar as they were very overcrowded and personally, I don't find that kind of atmosphere when I'm drinking that enjoyable. One of the best things was how when we were sat down for a drink, enjoying our Guinness, a band sat down opposite us and started playing amazing traditional Irish music! The happy and fun culture of this city absolutely blows my mind.

So there was a round up of my trip to Dublin. I had the most amazing time, and it's definitely somewhere that I would love to return to. Have you been to Dublin? What cities are you visiting this year?

  2. This looked like a lot of fun. I've only been to Dublin once and it was for the day, so very quick time spent and I don't remember a lot of it. Will have to go back sometime. These photos are gorgeous x
